Lunch with BLP: Factory-made homes set to modernise the housing industry
- Location: Hotel Gotham, Manchester
- Date: 19/04/2018
- Time: 12:00 - 14:30
Our Thought Leadership Regional Lunches are hosted by our CEO, Kim Vernau, and other senior representatives from BLP. They are limited to a small number of selected guests, enabling us to assemble a key group of industry peers each of whom enjoy unrestricted opportunities to participate in the interactive discussions and put questions to renowned guest speakers.
Guest speaker Rosie Toogood outlines how precision engineered factory manufactured homes, delivered on a large scale, will disrupt the UK housing industry.
Rosie passionately believes that the UK housing crisis can only find resolution if the industry transforms a wide range of its approaches, not least in the fundamental area of construction. Whilst such views are widely reflected across the industry, Rosie is in a unique position to deliver a truly valuable perspective from both a strategic panorama and hands-on practical expertise.
Legal & General Modular Homes will be releasing 3,000 factory-made homes a year. Rosie will outline the organisation's strategy to invest in societal and economic improvements, creating not just new homes but new jobs; directly addressing the skills crisis within housing.
This is an opportunity to hear from an accomplished engineering management professional about the approach and processes that drive true off-site manufacture, in an industry where many believe it is sufficient to simply transfer what was done onsite into a factory and repeat the same processes. Design for manufacture must be re-evaluated if houses are to be produced at scale. Without disruption, suggests Rosie, the market will continue its downward path into stagnation. This will be a 'wake-up call' of a session and a highly informative look at the future of housing construction.
As CEO of Legal & General Modula Homes, Rosie is in the frontline of housing revolution, leading the organisation's modular business, and driving its engineering and production capabilities. Rosie was previously Business Development Director for Rolls Royce's Civil Aerospace business and, prior to that, Executive VP of the Compressors organisation, leading over 2,500 employees across operations in US, UK, Germany and Singapore.
