"The Case for Home Performance Labelling" - launch at the GLA

  • Location: City Hall, London
  • Date: 20/01/2015
  • Time: 10:45 - 14:00

Kim Vernau (CEO), Jeff Maxted (Director of Technical Consultancy) and Peter Mayer (Research & Development Manager) have been invited to attend The Housing Forum Innovation Workshop at The Greater London Authority on Tuesday 20th January 2015, which will launch "The Case for Home Performance Labelling".

The Housing Forum promotes quality in housing and is concerned at the lack of meaningful information for consumers on comparative quality measures like space and energy standards.

The Home Performance Labelling Pilot has been worked on by Housing Forum Members using 20 house types put forward by builders, housing associations, manufacturers and designers. They have developed a customer friendly indicator which can compare space, storage, and energy efficiency using the London Mayor's standard as a benchmark. All metrics are derived from house types submitted by project collaborators and assessed using BIM and BLP's Butterfly tool.

The workshop will demonstrate how Home Performance Labelling can work in practice followed by a panel discussion on the value of labelling for consumers and its advantage as product differentiator in the market for both sale and rented housing.
