Guest speaker Alex Notay discusses collaboration in the housing market from the perspective of creating effective community outcomes.
Alex has worked across the real estate sector with experience encompassing international organisations and private/public partnerships, and has seen the positive impact of collaboration that arises when siloed approaches are discarded in favour of enriched outcomes.
Her exposure to a wide variety of operating strategies within the housing market gives Alex a panoramic view not only of the effective ingredients to a true joint venture in the sector, but how the focus on collaboration is sharpened when organisations put people first.
In this session Alex will look at how the significant changes that have affected the working environment of the housing market – from modular construction to the Big Data challenge and opportunity, through to the growth in significance and influence on operations of the customer experience – indicate a requirement for evolved approaches to organisations working together.
Collaboration is strongly implicit in the growing tendency to reward building development contracts to consortia, in varying compositions of developers, Housing Associations and private companies. Alex will look at how effective communities are a mix of people, incomes, backgrounds, skills, and demographics, requiring a holistic approach in housing projects. In a future-gazing session, exploring routes to enriched community outcomes, Alex will be looking at what collaboration could achieve, and how visions of the future might well align across organisations; to the benefit of all.
Alex is Director of Product and Service Innovation at Places for People, one of the UK’s largest development, regeneration and management companies. She has also served for four years as UK Policy Director for the Urban Land Institute, and is a published author and editor of over 30 books and reports on real estate, including the renowned ULI UK Best Practice Guide on Build to Rent (2014 and 2016).
